If you don't have an existing family tree, you can create a new one using PhpGedView.  Once you've logged in to PhpGedView, do the following:

1. Click on the "Create a new GEDCOM" link.
2. In the field labeled "
   Path and name of GEDCOM on server", give your family tree a name.  You might want to make this your family name.
3.  In the field labeled "
   GEDCOM title", again, type in a name for your family tree.
4. All of the other fields are optional.  You can leave them for now.
5. Click the "Save Configuration" button.

Once you've done this, you'll have a new family tree with a single individual in it.  To start building your family tree, go to the Pedigree chart to see this newly created individual.  The person is named "Given Name Surname".  Click on the name of this person and you will be taken to the edit individual screen.  From this page, you will be able to set the name of this starting person and build the rest of your family tree from there!
